Charles Wizenfeld is a partner in Hecht Partners’ Intellectual Property group. He has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in complex, high-stakes patent disputes in proceedings before federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Charles’s practice includes a significant focus on plaintiff-side patent enforcement involving electrical, computer, software, and telecommunications technologies. He manages patent enforcement matters from pre-suit evaluation through trial and appeal, combining technical analysis, commercial strategy, and practical judgment throughout the life of a case. Drawing on extensive experience representing both patent owners and accused infringers, Charles develops enforcement strategies that anticipate opposing arguments, assess litigation risk, and enable clients to make informed decisions at every stage of a matter.
Charles has extensive appellate experience, including numerous appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and matters before the U.S. Supreme Court at the certiorari stage. In Interactive Wearables, LLC v. Polar Electro Oy, he authored the petition for a writ of certiorari and the reply brief, coordinated amicus support, and obtained a Call for the Views of the Solicitor General, after which the Solicitor General recommended that certiorari be granted in a significant matter concerning the application of 35 U.S.C. § 101.
Charles also counsels clients regarding evaluation and monetization of patent portfolios, including analysis of patent assets in connection with licensing initiatives, litigation strategies, and strategic acquisitions. He advises clients on intellectual property risk, including infringement and validity analyses, freedom-to-operate opinions, and licensing matters, and has drafted and negotiated numerous patent licenses, nondisclosure agreements, and other commercial contracts.

B.E. Technology, L.L.C. v. Google, LLC and Twitter, Inc. (D. Del.).Represented B.E. in district court litigations, and related PTAB proceedings, concerning targeted advertising technology.
ChanBond, LLC v. Atlantic Broadband Group, LLC et al. (D. Del.).Represented plaintiff in patent infringement litigation against cable internet providers, resulting in a $125 million settlement reached during jury trial.
In re Certain Light-Emitting Diodes and Products Containing the Same, ITC Investigations 337-TA-784 and 337-TA-802. Represented OSRAM in multiple ITC investigations concerning light emitting diodes.
Pfizer Inc. et al. v. Teva Pharms. USA, Inc. (E.D. Va.). Represented Teva inlitigation and Federal Circuit appeal involving patent covering use of Viagra®.

Before joining Hecht Partners, Charles was a partner at King & Wood Mallesons. Earlier in his career, he practiced at Mishcon de Reya New York LLP and Goodwin Procter LLP.
